Heading to Erfoud, the gateway to the Sahara dunes and Rissani? This guide explains how to rent a car, 4x4 or motorbike through RentalMe. Pick-up options, vehicles, budget and driving tips.
Erfoud sits at the edge of the Sahara in Errachidia province, surrounded by palm groves and fossil workshops. For travelers heading to the dunes of Merzouga or the historic market town of Rissani, it is a natural stop before the desert opens up. A car rental in Erfoud turns a fixed itinerary into something you control: catch sunrise over the dunes, browse Rissani's souks at your own pace, or detour into the Ziz Valley without waiting for a bus or negotiating a taxi fare.
RentalMe is a Moroccan marketplace that connects you with professional rental agencies. It is not a rental agency itself. Before you travel, you can search and compare the offers and conditions of several agencies, then rent the vehicle that matches your budget and route.
Good reasons to rent a vehicle in Erfoud:
Booking on RentalMe takes a few steps:
The rental agreement is signed with the agency when you collect the vehicle.
For deeper planning, read our Errachidia car rental guide and our Merzouga car rental guide.
Depending on the agency, you may collect the vehicle at its office or at an agreed meeting point, such as your hotel. Always confirm the exact place and time with the agency before you arrive.
If you are flying into the region, ask the agencies whether they can hand over the vehicle at Errachidia airport. One-way rentals — for example picking up in Errachidia and returning in Erfoud — depend entirely on each agency, so read the conditions of the offer and ask about any extra fee before confirming.
The best way to pick a vehicle is to match it to your route:
Budget: rental prices generally go from 100 DH to 700 DH per day, depending on vehicle category, season and agency.
If you need an automatic gearbox, a child seat, a roof rack or air conditioning, ask the agency before you book.
Spring and autumn are popular periods for desert trips, as summer days can be very hot and winter nights cold. Whatever the season, availability can change, so compare offers as soon as your dates are set — especially if you need a specific category such as a 4x4 or SUV.
If you are planning a longer stay, ask the agencies about long-term rental conditions. For short getaways, see our weekend car rental ideas.
Several elements change the final cost of a rental beyond the vehicle category: the rental duration, the pick-up place and extras such as an additional driver or a child seat. Before you pay, ask the agency about:
Read the rental contract carefully before you sign it.

Requirements vary by agency. Ask the agency which documents it needs — usually your driving licence and an ID or passport — and how the deposit works before you book.
