Understand the difference between a deposit, deductible and rental cover. Ask the provider for written conditions before booking in Morocco.
Rental insurance is specific to the provider, vehicle and contract. Ask the agency for the applicable policy or coverage wording before committing. This guide is a checklist for that conversation; it does not determine your legal obligations or interpret an insurance policy.
A deposit is an amount collected or held under the rental conditions. A deductible is an amount you may have to pay under the applicable coverage conditions. Neither term alone explains the total cost of an incident. Ask for each amount, the payment method, the release conditions and the evidence provided at return.
Request written details about damage, theft, third-party liability and assistance. Ask specifically about tyres, glass, roof, underside, keys and the roads on your itinerary. Find out whether additional drivers are covered and what restrictions apply. Do not infer coverage from a phrase such as “fully insured”.
If relying on another insurer or a payment-card benefit, ask that provider whether your specific rental, location, driver and vehicle qualify. Do not assume automatic coverage or decline an option without understanding the consequences.
Photograph the vehicle and record existing damage with the agency. Keep the handover report and contract. Ask for the emergency contact and incident reporting steps, including any documents and deadlines required by the provider. Follow emergency instructions and local official guidance where needed.
Request confirmation of the vehicle’s return condition and any charge. Retain photos, receipts and correspondence. Refer disagreements to the agency and relevant insurer with the supporting documents. For advice about a dispute or a policy’s legal effect, consult a qualified professional.
