El Jadida's Portuguese city, its beaches and the Oualidia lagoon are far easier to reach with a car. This guide covers how to pick the right vehicle and book with RentalMe's partner agencies. It also gathers driving tips and route ideas across the Doukkala region.
El Jadida, on Morocco's Atlantic coast, draws visitors to its Portuguese city inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, its beaches, the nearby Oualidia lagoon and the Mazagan area. Car rental in El Jadida lets you explore the town and the wider Doukkala region at your own pace, without depending on public transport. RentalMe is a Moroccan platform that connects renters with professional rental agencies — it is not a rental agency itself.
Why does a car make such a difference here? The beaches stretch along the coast, several places to stay and leisure facilities sit outside the centre, and spots such as the Oualidia lagoon or the Jorf Lasfar industrial zone lie well beyond the town. Without a vehicle, moving between them quickly becomes awkward.
This guide gathers practical advice: which type of vehicle suits your trip, where to collect the car, what to check at handover, how to approach driving on the coast, and which routes are worth taking around El Jadida. You will also find links to the key RentalMe pages to start your search.
RentalMe works as a marketplace: it connects professional rental agencies based in Morocco with renters looking for a vehicle online. Each agency publishes its own offers, conditions and availability, and sets the price shown on its listing. Your job is to compare, then book.
Here is what the process usually looks like:
Open the platform. Go to RentalMe and set El Jadida as your pick-up location. If you are flying in, you can also look at offers from agencies in the Casablanca area.
Enter your dates. Give the start and end dates of your rental. Be precise: the length of the rental shapes the offers you see.
Compare the results. The platform lists vehicles from different agencies. You can narrow things down by category: a city car for getting around town, a saloon for the coastal road, an SUV for day trips, or a van for work.
Read each listing carefully. Every agency states the vehicle on offer, its category and the associated conditions, including the cancellation terms you accept before booking. Partner agencies listed on RentalMe are verified.
Book online. Once you have chosen, booking and payment happen online from the vehicle's listing. A service fee is added to the price set by the agency and is shown to you at the time of booking.
Rental agencies that want to publish their fleet and gain visibility will find the available plans on the marketplace pricing page.

The right vehicle depends on what you plan to do: stay in town, work your way along the beaches, travel for business, or combine all of it over several days. Here is how to narrow the choice.
City cars. They slip easily through the streets near the Portuguese city, the central market and the seafront. Parking is simpler with a small footprint, especially near the beach or the shops downtown. The trade-off is comfort on longer drives or with a lot of luggage.
Compact or family saloons. More comfortable for linking El Jadida with Azemmour, Sidi Bouzid or the Jorf Lasfar area. If your trip mixes business travel with time by the ocean, this format strikes a good balance between space and manoeuvrability.
SUVs and crossovers. They bring extra comfort on some coastal roads and on the approaches to less central beaches. For a trip that pairs El Jadida with Oualidia or Safi, the ride height and grip on rough surfaces make a real difference.
People carriers and larger models. Families or groups carrying pushchairs, beach gear or sports equipment need seats and boot space. For a long weekend or a summer stay, a roomy vehicle keeps passengers and bags from being squeezed together.
Long-term rental. If you are working in the region or staying in El Jadida for a while, look at the long-term offers agencies publish and compare them with a run of short rentals.
Think about mileage too: some listings include unlimited mileage, others set a cap. Check this on the agency's listing if you expect daily drives between towns. Demand rises in summer and around public holidays, so booking early helps you secure the vehicle you want. If electric vehicles interest you, our electric car rental guide is a good starting point.
Some travellers fly into Casablanca before heading to El Jadida; others arrive by train or bus straight into town. Where you collect the vehicle shapes the start of the trip.
Picking up in El Jadida. Collecting the car locally means you can move straight away between the Portuguese city, the main beach, Sidi Bouzid and the residential districts. Depending on the agency, you can choose to collect on site or have the car delivered to an address of your choice, with a delivery fee set by the agency.
Picking up in the Casablanca area. Some agencies listed on RentalMe are based there. Airport delivery is available from some of them for an additional charge shown on the listing. From there it is a straightforward drive to El Jadida by motorway.
Either way, check the exact pick-up and drop-off point on the agency's listing before confirming. A misunderstanding about the collection point on the day can complicate the start of your stay.
A well-prepared rental is decided before, during and after the handover of the keys.
Book ahead. Check whether your dates fall on a long weekend, school holidays or a local event. In those periods, the most sought-after vehicles go first.
Get your documents ready. On collection day, bring the documents the agency asks for, exactly as stated on its listing.
Inspect the vehicle at handover. Walk around it with the agent and check:
the exterior: scratches, dents, windscreen chips, mirrors;
the interior: seats, dashboard, air conditioning;
headlights, indicators and rear lights;
the spare wheel or puncture kit, if the agency lists one;
the fuel level.
Take dated photos inside and out. If any damage is already there, have the agent note it on the handover document.
Drive carefully in town. Traffic is heavier around the central market, the Portuguese city and the seafront late in the day, and pedestrians are numerous near the main beach.
Adjust your driving on the coast. On smaller roads, watch for animals crossing and for cyclists, and slow down when visibility drops — in the morning, or at night on poorly lit stretches.
Park smart. Around the beach and the Portuguese city, spaces fill up fast in summer. Ask where you are staying about a good place to leave the car overnight.
Keep contacts handy. Save the agency's details. RentalMe support is also reachable seven days a week, by phone or WhatsApp, before, during and after your rental.
A car makes these four routes easy to fit around your own schedule.
Heritage and town. Start with the Portuguese city: the ramparts, the narrow lanes and the view over the port from the fortifications. Go down into the Portuguese cistern, then head to the lighthouse. Finish with a walk along the seafront and a stop at the central market for seafood. The walled quarter is best explored on foot, with the car linking each stage quickly.
Beaches and downtime. Set off from El Jadida's main beach, then take the road to Sidi Bouzid, facing the ocean. Continue to Haouzia beach if you want somewhere quieter. The coastal road back offers Atlantic viewpoints worth stopping for. For more weekend ideas with a rental car, our blog has further routes.
Golf and out-of-centre stays. A car makes it easy to reach golf courses and places to stay outside the centre, with the bonus of carrying clubs, sports bags and beach gear without relying on a shuttle.
Lagoon and seafood. A rental car is ideal for reaching Oualidia from El Jadida. The calm, sheltered lagoon lends itself to swimming and kayaking, and the restaurants along it serve oysters and seafood. Allow a full day to enjoy both the coastal drive and the site.
Regional road trip. Combine El Jadida with other coastal towns over two or three days. This kind of trip is simpler with a booking confirmed before you arrive: no last-minute searching, and a vehicle matched to the distance.
How do I find a car rental agency in El Jadida?
Search for El Jadida on RentalMe. Listings from partner agencies appear with the available vehicles, their category and each agency's own conditions.
Can I book a car in El Jadida if I fly into Casablanca?
Yes. Compare the pick-up options agencies offer: some allow collection on site, others offer delivery, including to the airport for an extra charge. Pick the option that fits your route and check the fees shown on the listing.
Which car should I choose for a weekend in El Jadida?
If you are staying in town and along the seafront, a city car is enough. If you plan trips to the further beaches, the golf course or Oualidia, a more comfortable vehicle — a saloon or an SUV — gives you an easier ride on coastal roads and room for your things. Factor in the number of passengers and how much luggage you have.
How do I compare offers from different agencies?
Read each listing: category, vehicle, mileage, delivery options, cancellation terms. Check the pick-up and drop-off point to avoid surprises, and look at reviews left by previous customers.
Is unlimited mileage available?
It depends on the agency and the vehicle: some offers include unlimited mileage, others set a cap. Check this in the listing's conditions before confirming your booking.
Can I cancel my booking?
Yes, according to the cancellation terms shown on the listing and accepted at the time of booking. Read them before confirming, especially if your dates are still uncertain.
