Car rental in Kenitra lets you explore Mehdia, Sidi Boughaba and Rabat at your own pace. This guide helps you choose a vehicle, compare agencies on RentalMe and read the conditions carefully.
Kenitra, on the Atlantic coast in the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, is a good starting point for Mehdia beach, Lake Sidi Boughaba or Rabat. Car rental in Kenitra lets you get around freely and on your own schedule, whether you are on holiday, travelling for work or studying. This guide explains how RentalMe works, where to pick up your vehicle, which type of car to choose and which conditions to check before you book.
RentalMe does not rent out vehicles itself: it is a Moroccan marketplace that connects customers with professional car, motorbike and van rental agencies. The rental contract is made directly with the agency you choose.
The typical booking journey is simple:
Search on RentalMe for Kenitra and enter your dates.
Compare offers from different agencies: vehicle categories, prices and conditions.
Narrow it down with filters (transmission, fuel, seats, mileage, insurance, price).
Read the agency's conditions, then book online.
The agency confirms the booking. Deposit, insurance, fuel, mileage and cancellation are set by that agency.
Pick-up points depend on each agency. Depending on the offer, the keys may be handed over in the city centre, near the train station or at another address given by the agency.
A few tips for choosing where to pick up:
City centre: convenient if you are staying in a central hotel or apartment.
Train station: useful if you arrive by train; check with the agency whether a handover nearby is possible.
Arriving by plane: if you land at a nearby airport, ask the agency whether it offers pick-up there or whether you need to reach Kenitra first.
Always check the agency's exact address and phone number before you go, and ask for written confirmation of the pick-up time and place.
The price of a car rental in Kenitra depends on several factors:
Season: demand is higher during holidays and in summer.
Duration: the daily rate can change depending on whether you rent for a weekend, a week or a month.
Vehicle type: a city car, an SUV and a van are not priced the same.
Options and conditions: automatic transmission, child seat, limited or unlimited mileage, insurance level.
On RentalMe you can see prices from several agencies and compare them without checking each website one by one. Try different dates and durations to see how they affect the total cost.
A weekend in Mehdia or a short getaway: a short-term rental with a city car is often enough.
A week of holiday between Kenitra and Rabat: explore the region at your own pace, from beaches and natural sites to the Rabat medina.
A business assignment or internship lasting several weeks: see whether agencies offer long-term rentals and compare their conditions.
Whatever the duration, read the allowed mileage, the deposit amount and the terms for extending the contract carefully.
Driving around town, heading to the beach with the family and moving equipment are very different needs.
| Category | Best for |
|---|---|
| City car | City driving, easy parking |
| Sedan | Comfort on the road between Kenitra and Rabat |
| SUV | Mixed trips, families, more luggage space |
| Van | Moving house, carrying equipment, professionals |
Vehicles may come with a manual or automatic gearbox: if you prefer an automatic, use the matching filter or ask the agency. Also check the number of seats, boot size and air conditioning, which is especially useful in summer.
Mostly in the city centre: a city car is easy to park and manoeuvre.
A mix of city, Mehdia beach and Lake Sidi Boughaba: a compact or an SUV is more comfortable if you carry luggage, parasols or a cool box.
Frequent trips to Rabat: go for a comfortable category with good air conditioning and, if you like, an automatic gearbox.
Carrying equipment: a van will meet your loading needs.
Book ahead in high season, during holidays and festivities, to have more choice among the available categories.
Compare several categories: the price gap between two segments is sometimes small while the comfort is clearly different.
Check the times for pick-up and return to avoid being charged an extra day.
Be flexible about the pick-up location offered by the agency if it gives you access to other offers.
Try different dates: shifting your departure by a few days can change the rate.
Each agency in Kenitra sets its own policy. Before confirming, check:
Insurance: what is included in the base price, what is optional, and whether there is an excess. If you plan to drive on unpaved tracks, ask the agency whether this is allowed and covered.
Deposit: the amount, the accepted payment method and how it is returned.
Fuel: the fuel level at pick-up and the level required at return.
Mileage: limited or unlimited, an important point if you often drive to Rabat.
Cancellation and changes: policies vary from one agency to another.
Vehicle inspection: inspect the car before leaving, have every scratch or dent noted, take photos and keep a copy of the contract.
Renting a car in Kenitra is above all about exploring the region at your own pace:
Mehdia beach: a classic outing for families, surfers and seaside lovers; the Mehdia kasbah is also worth a visit.
Lake Sidi Boughaba: a natural site popular for relaxing, walking and birdwatching.
Rabat: a day to visit the medina, the seafront and the historic districts.
Moulay Bousselham: head north to discover its lagoon.
Maamora forest: for a nature outing inland.
