Car rental in Taza gives you freedom between the Middle Atlas and the Rif. This guide explains how to book on RentalMe, which car to choose and what to check at pick-up and return.
Whether you are on holiday in Morocco or visiting family, car rental in Taza gives you a freedom that buses and taxis cannot match. The city sits between the Middle Atlas and the Rif mountains, on the east–west corridor linking Fes and the Oriental region. With your own rental car, you choose the route and the pace.
What a rental car gives you in Taza:
Flexibility: drive at your own pace to the medina, the city walls and the viewpoints around town.
Nature: take day trips to Tazekka National Park and to higher villages in the Middle Atlas.
Family visits: with a roomier car and a longer rental period, you can reach every corner of the region.
Compare and book: on RentalMe, a Moroccan online platform, you compare offers from professional rental agencies and book online.
Here is how to arrange your rental car online with RentalMe instead of hunting for one on arrival.
Go to the RentalMe website and search for Taza as your pick-up location.
Compare offers by car type (compact, sedan, SUV), transmission (manual or automatic), air conditioning and pick-up and return dates. Choose the offer that fits your plans.
RentalMe connects renters with professional rental agencies; each agency applies its own terms.
Pick your car, enter your details and complete your booking. Confirm where and how you will collect the car.
Cancellation terms differ from one agency to another. Always check them before you confirm.

The right choice depends on who you travel with, your budget and your plans. Rates vary by season, category and agency, so compare offers carefully.
Mini and economy: small, fuel-efficient cars that are handy in the city's narrow streets.
Compact and mid-size: more comfortable for drives towards Fes or the Oriental, and suitable for families with children and more luggage.
SUV and crossover: practical for day trips to Tazekka or to higher villages. Always ask the agency whether unpaved roads are allowed.
Vans: some agencies also offer utility vehicles, for example for a move or a lot of luggage.
Transmission: if you really need an automatic, search early and check that one is on offer.
Rent smart: searching early and staying flexible with your dates gives you more choice. For a long rental, ask about the terms and the mileage policy.
These tips make driving in and around Taza a lot smoother.
Getting your bearings: Taza has an old upper town and a newer lower town. Plan your first drives in daylight, when things are easier to follow.
Medina and parking: park on the edge of the medina and explore the walls, gates and viewpoints on foot.
Tazekka National Park: expect winding mountain roads, changeable weather and few facilities. Bring enough fuel and water.
Routes towards Fes and the Oriental: check road conditions before you set off. Also consider whether picking up in Taza itself or elsewhere in the region suits your trip better.
Local driving style: drive defensively and watch out for scooters, pedestrians and animals. Vehicles sometimes stop unexpectedly.
Seasons: summer can be hot (test the air conditioning at pick-up); in colder months, rain and fog can occur at higher altitudes.
A careful check at pick-up and return prevents disputes later.
Documents: bring your driving licence, ID and booking confirmation. The agency decides exactly which documents are needed, so read the terms in advance.
Inspection: walk around the car with the staff member, note any existing damage, take photos in daylight and check that all details on the contract are correct.
Fuel: ask which fuel policy applies and how full the tank must be on return.
Extras: check that requested options, such as a child seat or spare wheel, are in the car.
Return: bring the car back on time to the agreed location, do the final inspection together and ask for written confirmation.
Communication: discuss any changes, such as a later return or unpaved roads, with the agency in advance.
Should I book in advance or rent on the spot?
Searching in advance on RentalMe usually gives you more choice of car types. In busy periods, availability on the spot may be more limited.
What are the age and driving licence requirements?
Each agency sets its own requirements for age, driving experience and documents. Check the terms of the agency you choose before booking.
What about insurance and deposit?
Coverage, excess and deposit vary by agency. Read the terms carefully in advance and ask what is and is not included.
Can I rent for a month or longer?
Many agencies allow it. Ask about the terms for long rentals and compare the offers.
Can I drive outside Taza?
Many renters continue to Fes or the Oriental. Always check whether the rental agreement restricts regions or road types.
Who do I contact if there is a problem?
For questions about the car, the contract or a breakdown, contact the agency you rented from.
